The Historic Owen Theatre
Located in the heart of Downtown Branson, the Historic Owen Theatre is the official home of the Branson Regional Arts Council and is Branson's only entertainment venue presenting amateur and professional level Broadway musicals and plays year-round.
The Historic Owen Theater was built in 1936 by famous fisherman, James Mason Owen. Owen built the theater to reflect the charm of a cabin so that prestigious guests like Joe DiMaggio, John Wayne, Forrest Tucker, Rose O'Neill, and Charlton Heston would feel at home and fall in love with the Ozarks.
At the Historic Owen Theatre, which still holds the title "World's Most Unique Theatre," guests enjoy the web trussing, fireplace room, and hand-painted window insets done by famous artist Elsie Bates.
